Lego Jurassic World is neither the most ambitious of the Lego games (that honor goes to Lord of the Rings) nor the most polished ( Marvel Super Heroes). But it points to a certain lax approach to PC porting that I’m not sure I’m comfortable with. The game runs, sure-and runs well after tweaking. Aside from the dismal draw distance I mentioned above, we get goodies like “The game still doesn’t work properly with the default Windows 7 Aero themes so it freaks out and converts to Basic on launch,” and “The game’s menus don’t function with a mouse,” and “The default resolution/refresh rate is absurdly low.” The PC port quality is on par with Jurassic Park III. I’m starting to wonder how much of this I can ascribe to the developers and how much I should ascribe to WB, considering it’s the same flaw that afflicted Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat X. I’ve noticed the same in Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego The Hobbit, and the like, but it’s doubly noticeable in Lego Jurassic World where every line is seemingly accompanied by leaves rustling and dinosaurs growling.Īnd even less great: Traveller’s Tales continues to pump out some of the most middling PC ports of the modern era. The LEGO Group has revealed five new playsets in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the original, iconic Jurassic Park film in LEGO® brick form. The bad? Sometimes those lines are of iffy audio fidelity. The good? It sounds just like Jurassic Park. Lego Jurassic World continues the Lego trend of lifting lines directly from the films. Less great: The dialogue is occasionally terrible-and I don’t just mean the writing itself. DNA, who steps in for the game’s tutorials and provides random dinosaur facts in the loading screens. ![]() The infamous Jurassic Park laugh/giggle/purr even makes an appearance in the title screen, which is great. Jeff Goldblum is especially hilarious, with Traveller’s Tales taking quite a few shots at the “unique” Dr. That being said, I laughed a fair few times. Especially the third film, where it seems like Traveller’s Tales really had to stretch to make a dismal plot into a semi-coherent game. Of course, we can attribute some of that to the fact that hardly anything happens in the second and third films. I clocked about twelve hours, and that included quite a significant amount of messing around in the hub. The information provided was correct at the time of writing. The game is also remarkably short for a Lego game, considering it covers all four films. In general, it's a problem with most of the emulations. Korg has an official MS20 Vst, which has been around for almost 20 years.īut it sounds miles worse that this new Arturia emulation. So the trap of this collection is that if I buy on a sale the three individual synths that I want, let's say at 75 euros the piece, I will pay 225. The other alternative on desktop, XILS 3, it's also far from the exactitude of iVCS 3 But it's cool to have something that can be easily added in the workflow of Bitwig, without routing the audio between my Mac and my iPad. I'm mostly interested in the Buchla Easel, the VCS 3 and in this Yamaha CS-80.Īnd the VCS 3 has a much more accurate emulation in iOS, with the iVCS 3 app. This can be finally called a CS-80 emulation.Īnd now think that most of the old synthesizers included in the collection, sound as bad as the prior CS-80 version. The update of the CS-80 shows why I'm still reluctant, deciding if getting this.Ĭompare how it sounded prior to the update, something that suggested the sounds of the CS-80, but that it was far of being considered an accurate representation of the sound.Īnd listen to the new engine. I'm getting FM sound design right now so DX7v is serving it's purpose really well. I’m going to try and save some £s to update to v9 when Black Friday comes around though - by then I’m sure GAS will be hard to resist. I’m going to try and save some £s to update to v9 when Black Friday comes around though - by then I’m sure GAS will be hard to said: I haven’t even properly explored many of the v8 synths yet. The existing Prophet 5 warms up nicely when run through those fx too… I’m sure the new one is going to be much better - the new Roland synths from v8 do stand out - but I’m happy enough for now. I’ll use my iPad in IDAM mode to scratch my MS20 itch - the Korg iMS20 sounds pretty great put through my outboard EQ or one of the many ‘analogue’ colouring fx plug ins I have. I think it’s a good update but will wait as I don’t want to spend that kind of cash at the moment plus I am still far from bored with v8! It should be $149 if you have V8 and SQ-80. The Upgrade price for me is $199 as I have v8. Upgrade price should be $50 less given I bought a few things from them last year and have v8 already. Only refreshes and I got SQ80 last year, which is great btw, but still not enough to get me to upgrade right away this time. I have found the Arturia Software Centre to create more issues than solve, hence have decided to download all my Arturia software as. Like you, removing the db.db3 file solves the empty presets folder issue - just locating it for me was a bit of a pain pkg file direct from the Arturia website and not via the Arturia Software Centre (which had it’s own set of issues such as incomplete and failed downloads) and it’s now all working fine. ![]() So, I decided to delete every Arturia file on my Mac and restart the computer. However, although it worked when I restarted my DAW (Logic pro X) and I was able to see the presets again, it was only temporary (ie.a few seconds) and then the presets disappeared once more. I was looking at the Library folder under my user name and not the Library folder under the root Macintosh directory. Since posting, I managed to find the file and delete it. ![]() This is also true for the VS IDE, of course. In my experience, the key to happiness with using these tools lies in taking the time to configure and tune them the way you want them. Tools like ReSharper and Visual Assist can feel instantly overwhelming and frustrating to some users. No, the C++ support in ReSharper isn’t anywhere nearly as good as ReSharper’s support for C# (where ReSharper practically writes – or re-writes – your code for you). It’s purely personal preference, but in my opinion the ReSharper people have really upped their game in the last couple of versions when it comes to C++ code inspection and refactoring. But I recently switched to using ReSharper for C++. I even wrote an article about why it was my VS extension of choice. I used Visual Assist for my C/C++ projects happily for several years. Since that time, I’ve tried to up my driver coding game by alternately using ReSharper for C++ and Visual Assist for C/C++. I discovered that, using it, I could write pretty respectable C# code. Many years ago, when working on an enormous C# project, I learned the value of ReSharper. I can use all the help I can get, and if I can get it sooner – like, as I’m typing – I figure that just makes my life easier. It seems there are two very different types of devs: Those who revel in “interactive help as you type” and those that find the pop-ups, squiggles, and extreme chroma-coding distracting and annoying as hell. Real-Time Squiggles, Dots, Light Bulbs, Wrenches, Colors and Whatnot We’re not going to discuss SDV in this article because (a) it provides a very different type of analysis from that provided by Code Analysis and Clang-Tidy, and (b) nobody at OSR has been able to get it to work – at all – in VS 2019. SDV aims at reviewing driver code for functional correctness, by simulating its interactions with the OS. There is, of course, one more static analysis tool available to driver devs in the WDK: This is The Mother of All Static Analysis Tools, Static Driver Verifier (SDV). Some of its checks have to do with common errors, others have to do with what it considers “best practices”, there are some checks that are purely stylistic in nature, and still others are focused on enforcing system-specific coding conventions (for example Clang-Tidy supports a set of checks for adherence to Zircon kernel coding conventions). This tool, like Microsoft Code Analysis, examines your code for a wide variety of issues. Clang-Tidy is part of the LLVM tool suite. We’ll talk more about these later.Ī new static analysis option that’s become available starting with VS 2019 is Clang-Tidy. In fact, the vast number of ever-changing settings is both one of the tool’s biggest advantages and biggest sources of frustration. CA has a huge number of settings and options, including some that are specific to Windows drivers. The primary static analysis tool that Visual Studio provides is Microsoft Code Analysis, which everyone just refers to as Code Analysis or “CA.” This is the tool that started out as PREfast, was run via OACR, and eventually was integrated into the “new” C/C++ compiler. At OSR, we’ve found that the most success lies in tuning each of them properly and using them in combination. Visual Studio 2019 incorporates multiple, highly configurable, static analysis tools that can be useful to driver developers. Sometimes my mind just starts working faster than my fingers.īecause of these things, I’ve learned to stop worrying and love static analysis tools. I’m also sort of famous for coding or cut/pasting a call to some function and then neglecting to check the return status. But WTF does 0xB7 mean? Yes, the comment implies it means “16x oversampling for both temp and pressure” but shouldn’t we have used some sort of a symbolic constant instead of a literal hex value? OK, that’s not the worst code ever written. Set the BME280 into NORMAL mode, with 16x oversampling for both That’s fine, except when those shortcuts get accidentally left in the code at Final Release. Sometimes it’s because I’m not fully dedicated to a specific coding convention to use: Do I want to continue using NULL or should I switch to nullptr? Sometimes it’s because I’m initially focused on getting my device to work, and I take some messy shortcuts. My C programming, and especially my attempts at using C++ “as a better C”, can usually use a lot of help. ![]() So if you are a member or might want to become a member I highly recommend the Boo Bash! I didn't have the strength, physically and mentally, to keep doing the same thing over and over. My attempts to deconstruct the characters were, of course, turned down by Jump. All I could do at this point was to start deconstructing the characters, or go on repeating the same storylines over and over until the readers got bored. It saddens me to say this, but I had explored every possible direction for the YYH characters that I could in the context of a professional publication. I had already started to think that no matter what anyone says, no matter how messy the finished pages are, I just wanted to draw this by myself, and I had no reason not to go through with it. This might mean I fail as a professional, but I was satisfied. The latter two were finished in half a day before my deadline, as a reader guessed and criticized in a letter. Sensui, the scene where Yusuke meets Raizen, I drew most of those alone. Both the characters and the backgrounds were messy. As a result, those chapters ended up horrible. I don't know if anyone will understand, but when I was stressed because I wasn't satisfied with my manga, the only way for me to relieve this stress was to draw all my manga by myself. All of these instances were when my stress levels were at their highest. A few times during the run of YYH, I finished my manuscripts all by myself. But I was never able to throw away my ideal of being able to draw manga without help from other people. I felt that if I were honest with myself, my art would never be able to compete with something like this. This is because back when I had just had my debut, my editor at the time had shown me a manga page by Hagiwara Kazushi (Bastard!!). I believe that anyone who draws has a desire to attract people with their art, but this is an ambition that I had suppressed for a long time. Because I had stopped overworking my body, and started to relieve my stress, I was feeling stressed that I couldn't draw manga in a way that satisfied me. But also around this time, I realized I was starting to experience a different kind of stress. I fell even more behind, and at the point where Sensui and Yusuke were fighting, this reached its first peak. One-shots are scary." I also began to use some time before going to bed to relieve stress. If I die, I want it to be when I'm having fun or when I'm drawing manga for fun. Around this time, my feelings about writing manga as a profession began to change. But I tried to get some sleep every night. I immediately began to fall behind on my schedule. ![]() I thought, "I probably won't be able to keep regular hours, but if I sleep as much as I want to, when I want to, how much would I be able to produce?" I tried it out. ![]() This was when I seriously started to think about the pace of production for manga. But my HP (as they say in RPGs) was gradually but surely falling, and around the time that I wrote a 31-page one-shot and simultaneously had to do color pages, my heart began to hurt every time I went without sleep - and then it began to hurt more and more often. Other than that all I had time for were occasional naps, and I'd indulge in my hobbies by sleeping less. From when YYH began serialization up until the start of the Dark Tournament, I had half a day off every week in which I caught up on sleep. Point 1 was caused by Point 3 not being fulfilled for too long. Most of my 50 reasons fall into this category. Point 3 is out of the question for a professional manga writer basically I wanted to indulge in my hobbies, rest, and sleep as much as I could.

Lastly, you don't want both Malwarebytes Premium and Webroots real-time/on-access protections to both be enabled. Webroot does provide browser protection, so that could be causing those spinning beach balls, but there are other factors that may be more responsible. There are extensions available for Firefox and Chrome that might have a slight impact, but not Safari. Malwarebytes for Mac itself does not impact browser use at all, except for scanning anything you download. About all I know is that it hasn't performed that well in testing reviews that I've come across. I'm sorry that I'm not very familiar with Webroot and have never used it, so can't say for certain whether it's causing issues for your or not. macOS Security Update patches were discontinued over two years ago. ![]() As you probably know, Apple anti-malware support of El Capitan is currently limited to background updates for Gatekeeper, XProtect and MRT (Malware Removal Tool) as long as you have "Install system data files and security updates" enabled in System Preferences->App Store.
